In a daring incident on March 11, 2025, the Jaffar Express, carrying approximately 400 passengers from Quetta to Peshawar, was hijacked by militants of the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) in Balochistan province. The attackers intercepted the train within a tunnel near Gudalar and Piru Kunri, leading to intense gunfire. Security forces responded promptly, rescuing 104 passengers, including women and children, and neutralizing 16 militants. The operation is ongoing as efforts continue to ensure the safety of all remaining passengers.
