Wife Found Alive 3 Years Later, Karnataka Man Served 2 Years for Her 'Murder'

A Karnataka man, Suresh, who spent nearly two years in jail for allegedly murdering his wife, was proven innocent after she was found alive at a restaurant in Madikeri.

Mallige had gone missing in 2021, and skeletal remains found later were wrongly identified as hers without a DNA match. Police allegedly pressured Suresh and his mother-in-law to confirm the identity, leading to his arrest. A court-ordered DNA test later proved the remains weren't hers, and Suresh was released. The case has raised serious concerns about police negligence and mishandling of the investigation.
